Application of Nancal Electric Medium Voltage Drives in Metallurgical Sintering Main Exhaust Fans

In metallurgical steel production, sintering main exhaust fans consume significant energy, and traditional starting methods suffer from high inrush current and severe energy waste. Nancal Electric retrofitted a steel plant's sintering main exhaust system with medium voltage VFDs, achieving soft start and variable frequency speed regulation in a "two-drive-two" configuration with manual mutual backup. First In-Service Gas-to-Electric Compressor Unit of PipeChina Put into Operation, Powered by Nancal Electric Medium Voltage Drives for Localization

Recently, the first in-service gas-to-electric compressor unit of PipeChina successfully completed its 72-hour trial operation and was officially commissioned at the Quzhou Station of Zhejiang Natural Gas Pipeline Company. All equipment of the project was fully localized, with two 23,500 kVA water-cooling medium voltage drives supplied by Shanghai Nancal Electric Co., Ltd. Nancal Electric contributed to the project's energy savings and emission reductions, supporting improvements in pipeline transmission capacity and green supply assurance.

Hydrostatic Test Successfully Completed for Reactor Coolant System of Haiyang Nuclear Power Unit 3

The hydrostatic test for the reactor coolant system of Unit 3 at the Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant was successfully completed. This test represents the first key milestone in the commissioning phase for Unit 3. Application of Nancal Electric MV Drives in High-Speed Permanent Magnet Direct-Drive Systems for Steam-to-Electric Retrofit Project of Compressors in the Chemical Industry

A well-known domestic chemical enterprise planned to implement an energy-saving, emission-reduction, and capacity-expansion project for its polycarbonate production unit. This included converting the originally steam-driven MVR steam compressor to electric drive. The MVR steam compressor system was originally driven by a high-speed steam turbine (referred to as the steam turbine), directly connected to the drive shaft of the high-speed centrifugal compressor. The NC HVVF series medium voltage drives provided by Nancal Electric delivered excellent high-frequency drive performance and system safety control performance for the high-speed PMSM in this MVR steam compressor "steam-to-electric" retrofit project of a polycarbonate production unit, providing highly reliable and sustainable technical support for the project retrofit.

Application of Localized Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) Drives in Third-Generation AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant

The Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) Drive is a critical single-point-of-failure electrical equipment in the third-generation AP1000 nuclear power plant. In 2022, Shandong Nuclear Power Company Ltd., Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute, and Shanghai Nancal Electric Co., Ltd. initiated a collaboration and successfully developed an RCP Drive for the third-generation AP1000 nuclear power plant in 2023. This significantly enhances the operational reliability of the RCP Drives and the flexibility of standby RCP Drive switching, further improving the operational reliability and economic efficiency of AP1000 nuclear power units.

Nancal Electric Awarded Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress by China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) in 2025

Shanghai Nancal Electric Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Shandong Nuclear Power Company Ltd. (SDNP) and Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI), has been honored with the Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress by the China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) for the joint project "Localized R&D and Application of Reactor Coolant Pump (RCP) Drives." The project team successfully developed China's First MV Drive for the Generation III AP1000 Nuclear Power Plant Reactor Coolant Pump with fully independent intellectual property, achieving a breakthrough in core technology localization. This accomplishment is of significant importance for enhancing the safety and reliability of nuclear power. The RCP Drive has been deployed for commercial operation and was included in the National Energy Administration's List of Major Technical Equipment in the Energy Sector in 2024.
